Even with this shortage, many people are unaware of the benefits of a truck driving career.  Those of us in the industry know that trucking can be “well-paying, stable field of work where careers can often last for 20 years or more – and can take people to place they’d never get to otherwise.”   Continue reading

Mr. Louie Tolaini Recognized for his Lifetime Achievements

Last Thursday was a very special day for us here at TransX.  Most of us here know of Mr. Tolaini’s story and his hard work over the years so it was an extremely proud moment for us to see him recognized by the Manitoba business community and all of his peers for all that he has accomplished.

Here are some pictures from the JA Manitoba Business Hall of Fame Gala (courtesy of MBHF – see the rest of the photos on their website here)

May 7 – 13 is North American Occupational Safety and Health Week

NAOSH

Each year, over 1,100 workers are injured in the trucking industry. In addition to the danger and harm done to our drivers and workers, direct and indirect costs from injury are said to exceed $90 million annually.

Employees and employers in the trucking industry can both stand to benefit from a better understanding of safety procedures within their working environment.  Benefits can include:

> Reduced risk of workplace injury
> Secure livelihood and the ability to support self and family
> Improved quality of life
> Longer career
> No lost time due to injury

Occupational Safety and Health are real concerns within the trucking industry. TransX is committed to ensuring the safety of our drivers.  Each year, we recognize safe driving at our Annual Safety Awards Banquet. Drivers have the discretion to stop driving if they think they are at risk, regardless of the cause. Our safety training programs are comprehensive and provides adequate training on topics such as winter driving, dangerous goods handling, slip and fall and border security, just to name a few.

The North American Occupational Safety and Health (NAOSH) Week is a continent-wide event spanning Canada, USA and Mexico that highlight to the public, government, and industry the importance of increasing understanding, raising awareness and reducing injuries and illness in the workplace, at home and in the community.

It is a great opportunity to think again about safety when you are in or outside of the cab!  Visit the NAOSH website for more information.

Mr. Louie Tolaini Inducted into the Manitoba Business Hall of Fame

We are very honoured to be attending the Manitoba Business Hall of Fame Gala this year where our president and founder, Mr. Louie Tolaini will be officially inducted into the Hall of Fame.

juniour-achievement-logoHosted each year by Junior Achievement, the Manitoba Business Hall of Fame Gala recognizes 4 individuals for their vision, leadership, integrity, and lifelong contribution to the Manitoba business community.

While TransX has achieved much success over the years, our company had a humble beginning.

Mr. Louie Tolaini immigrated to Virden in 1959. His first job in Canada was at the local GMC truck dealership. Fast forward to 1963, Louie was offered the opportunity to become the general freight provider for the Virden area by Coleman’s Cartage.  From there, Louie expanded the company throughout Manitoba and rebranded as TransX.

We are honoured to be able to witness our president receive this recognition and award. If you are also attending the gala, we look forward to seeing you there. Feel free to come by and say hi.

Date: May 11, 2017
Location: 281 Donald Street, Winnipeg

Congratulations once again, Mr. Tolaini!
